BLENDING

Blending is not very hard to do. It's just a matter of using layers, playing with the capacity of the layer and erasing unwanted areas.

For this tutorial, I'm going to use 2 images. This is just a simple tutorial on how to use layers and the eraser. It's not a complicated blend.

  1. First, make a new image and copy image #1 on to it. So,
File > New > Input the sizes and whatnot > OK. Then Copy and Paste the first image. Edit > Paste > New Layer. It's just copying and pasting. Nothing hard there.

If you look at your Layer Palette [image here], that image is on layer 1. You can rename the layer whatever you want. Also, if you don't see the layer palette window, look for this [].

You can also move the image around to wherever you want it to be.

  2. Next, copy and paste the 2nd image. Make sure it's a new layer too. The layer palette should show the layers: background, layer1, and layer2. Right?

  3. Now comes the part where it depends on your creativity, but anyway...to blend 2 images together, just overlap them together. You can overlap them next to, on top of, at the bottom or whatever. For this tutorial, I put them next to each other. [image here]

  4. From here though, you just play with the layers and capacity. [image here]

  5. To delete an area that you don't want, just use the eraser and erase that area on that layer. For example, what is wrong with this image? I lowered the capacity of the 2nd image and you can see the outline of the first image, so just erase the part in the middle, so it will look like this. [image here] Remember to switch to the first layer when you erase.

  6. Now, there is still that line in visible in the middle. Switch to the second layer and erase that part, so that it looks something like this. [image here]

  7. Of course this blend isn't exactly the best, but I just want to give you the general idea of blending. It's your job to play around with it and get used to it. It's not hard, but it just takes awhile to get what you want. Good luck! ^_^ Go to the forum if you have any questions.

Don't forget, the overlay tutorial will help you with some of the blending as well.

This tutorial was written by Lingling. Don't take my images or copy my tutorial and put them on your site. Thank you!
