I went to pick up my friend today so we can go eat. Since I’m only picking her up, I don’t really need to park my car or anything. I just did what I usually do, I parked halfway on their driveway because I was only going to be there for 2 minutes–max!
This is what I mean:
So I was sitting in the car, calling my friend to come out of her house, and in the corner of my eye, I see this man walking towards me on the sidewalk. He stopped on the left side of my car and started talking and waving his arms around. I had my windows up, the radio on, and the AC on low, so I didn’t really hear what he was saying to me, but I can tell he wasn’t happy. Plus, I was talking to my friend on the phone. So after I hung up with her, I rolled my window down.
Him: Are you going to move up or back out?
Me: I’m leaving in a minute. I’m just picking someone up.
Him: You’re blocking the sidewalk. This is where people walk.
Me: You *can* walk around.
Then I rolled up my window because I don’t want to deal with him anymore. However, he just kept talking and waving his arms. Several seconds later, he starts to walk around the front of my car. I thought he was going to walk away, but NO! He walked to the front door of my friend’s house as she was walking out. Since I didn’t have my windows down, I didn’t hear what he was saying. My friend told me later that basically he was ANGRY that I blocked the sidewalk with my car and I wouldn’t move it. He kept following her as she slowly walked to my car. I got annoyed because we don’t have to put up with this and I just wanted her to hurry up, so I honked my car horn. My friend said that when I did that, the guy got even MORE mad.
So finally, she got to the car. When she opened the door, he said, “Thank you! Thank you so much!” and I said, “f***ass” right when she almost closed the door. He turned and gave me a look.
SERIOUSLY, WTF! Did I do something wrong? I didn’t know it was “wrong” to park like that. Why couldn’t this man had walked around my car like normal people? What makes him so damn special? He was about half a house down when I parked and I didn’t do it on purpose to make him mad. It was so unnecessary angry.
If he had said it nicely, I would have moved. If he was old, disabled..etc, then I wouldn’t have been so mean. No, this guy was in his 30′s or 40′s and he was out exercising. So clearly, he was capable of moving around the car. Plus, this was NOT his house. Even then, there’s no rule (that I know of) that said I can’t do that. I wasn’t hurting anyone or blocking cars, I just wanted to go eat. Clearly, he could have walked around. My car is only a sedan; it’s not that big.
My friend told me that when he was walking towards her, she thought that I almost hit him or I did because of how mad he looked. When he told her what happened, she was speechless and didn’t know what to say. Did he expect her to tell me NOT to do that? STUPID!
Usually, I’m not a mean person. People think I’m too nice. BUT I can be mean! I had a headache and I was in class for 5 hours AND I was hungry. Good thing this guy didn’t meet my sister. She would have cussed him out so bad that he would end up crying.
After I drove away, my friend’s dad called her and asked her what happened because he heard yelling.
*sigh* Stupid people thinking they own everything when they don’t. In the words of my mean sister, “Are you invalid?” I think he was.
[EDIT] My friend just texted me that the man came today and complained to her dad. He’s actually one of their neighbors so her dad apologized to him and said that he will tell me not to do it again. YEAH RIGHT!
